Anyone Find a Loved One Dead And Suspect Hypoglycemia??
Post Content
Title speaks for itself but I will give a backstory for context. I found my father dead in his apartment almost 2 weeks back. The reason for my post is to see if people have any constructive feedback?! Back story of my father's relationship with Diabetes... My father was a workaholic and also didnt sleep enough throughout life. He had hypertension, high blood pressure from high stress jobs/ambitions on top of raising 3 kids, and overworking in general...but then also got diabetes late in life. Upon diagnosis, Doctor said he had 7-8 yrs to live. Shortly after that my father retired early, in order to slow down, change his lifestyle and prolong his life expectancy. All in all he lived about 15-16 yrs since that moment, which was attributable to his switch from not overworking. He also traveled for long bouts and lived the opposite of his other periods of his life, ti slow things down, do photography, ect.He cleaned up his diet somewhat but then got into intermittent fasting about 10 years ago give or take. Being type 1 I knew it was super risky, but my father was too stubborn for his own good. As much as he loved me and maybe knew better at times... he was a doctor and always looked at me like his son, instead of considering healthy habits that I've built up and would seldomly bring up... like tracking calories, taking supplements like apple cider vinegar, glutamine, creatine, magnesium ect or higher fibre diets for digestion, detoxifying ect. Yes he lost some weight early on, but would plateau, leading to him losing fair bit of muscle alongside the fat. He would yo yo a bit because of his inconsistent calorie intact and in fact I believe he didnt get enough calories usually, nor enough consistent nutrients. He also drank coffee like crazy and wasnt one for electrolytes or supplements. When I found my father he was on the ground of his bedroom, with his eyes rolled in the back of his head. I didnt know if he was thrown into a seizure, coma from hypoglycemia... or even had a heart attack from complications of hypoglycemia or those less common things that can also happen from lower levels. The names escape me but I was researching them a bit. His bathroom toilet had remnants of vomit all over the bowl, and his clothes were scattered on the floor and by his bed. My father was pretty OCD with cleanliness and not having things lying around as I found him. I sense he was over heating maybe, super disoriented, not thinking well. My father was truly a genius in many realms of life but it was very unsettling to find such an odd scene. Because I feel he was always running the risk of low levels all the time... I feel this episode was at such a level that he couldnt even comprehend how bad it was until it was too late. I knew I had the probability of finding him this way abd sadly that was exactly what happened. Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Ps-Im not wanting to hear a lot if gruesome recollections of other people's experiences... even though the title may come across as if I am... considering the trauma I am working through im just trying to bring to light some sense of what really happened to my father... I feel bad to unload all this graphic stuff, but some proper feedback will help me get some closure on this. THANK YOU THANK THANK YOU for your patience and kindness to help me with this. Xoxo
