Hypothyroidism symptoms don't align with lab results; endo visit necessary?
Post Content
Hi there, 29F here. I got my blood tested for a thyroid panel today and these were the results: TSH 1.22 uiu/ml (NR 0.5-5 uiu/ml) FT3 3.89 pmol/L (NR 3.1-6.8 pmol/L) FT4 27 pmol/L (NR 12-22 pmol/L) Primary said TSH is good, FT3 is slightly low and FT4 is high but I have a history of taking biotin. Problem is, my symptoms align a lot more with hypothyroidism (rather than hyper) which doesn't fit my labs. I'm able to go see an endocrinologist by next week but I'm thinking of exploring other options like an ob-gyn or dermatologist because some of my main symptoms are associated with PCOS as well. Weight gain, (recently extreme) hair loss, lifelong irregular periods. But I also do have brain fog, coldness in extremities, muscle/joint stiffness and fatigue which is why I pushed for the thyroid panel. I also have globus and palpitations but that might be associated with GERD which I also have? Tl;dr: Do my lab results warrant an endo visit right now or should I start exploring other diseases that have similar symptoms with a different doctor; e.g. TVS exam with a gyno for PCOS?
