Azelaic Acid for Redness
Post Content
Hi guys, I have a combination of type 1 and type 2. I’ve been using ivermectin for about 5 months now and have seen significant improvement in both bumps and redness. Ivermectin began to improve my skin immediately, literally the first day I put it on. Anyways, I have a lot of broken capillaries and general redness still. So I thought I might as well try azelaic acid. Today is a week of using it exactly. Once a day, at night, after the ivermectin. The first morning I woke up and my skin was completely calm, like no redness at all. Now, a week into it, my skin seems to be getting reactive. My whole face flushed hot last night after applying azelaic acid and this morning it had completely recovered except for one red splotch in the center of my cheek. This, however, lasted all day. It calmed down again tonight but after applying azelaic acid, my face feels hot and tingly again. I will probably be fully flushed again in a few minutes. Should I continue the azelaic acid? Does my skin have to go through an adjustment period of increased redness before it helps? I don’t want to irritate my skin even more than it was before the azelaic acid, but I am also tempted to continue despite the burning/flushing/red patches because the first few days I woke up to completely calm, 0 redness skin. Anyone have an experience like this with azelaic acid?
