Second-degree burn (healing process)
Post Content
36F. Otherwise healthy with no significant medical conditions and I am not immunocompromised. https://imgur.com/a/gLNd22a I sustained what appears to be a second-degree burn on my lower abdomen. The size is approx. 6x6 inches. It was briefly assessed when I went to the ER, but I left after triage because the nurses told me there was nothing more to be done at that time. The burn was not evaluated by a physician. In the first photo, the white area in the center of the wound was numb at first (the reason why I went to ER because I was concerned about not feeling that much pain). In the second photo taken today, a huge blister had formed during day 3 and 4 and then ruptured this morning (day 5). I was advised to apply an antibiotic ointment daily and keep the wound covered with a dressing for protection. I would like to know if the healing looks appropriate. Should I continue using the antibiotic ointment and dressings? Should I shower with or without it? Thank you!
