Work out 6x a week and barely eat because of dental treatment, why did I gain 10 lbs?!

Post Content

About me: * 26F, 5'3, South Asian * Weighed 140lbs in November before starting Invisalign, now weigh 150lbs. * Honestly don't have a set number in mind for goal weight as long as its the middle of the healthy range (so maybe 120?) but I carry a TON of weight in my belly to the point where family members have asked if I'm pregnant. I'm trying to get rid of that. I'm also "slightly overweight" according to my doctor. * Lacto-vegetarian (aka I don't eat eggs) & allergic to most forms of soy (basically everything except super firm tofu and soy sauce, no one knows why not even my doctor) * Work out 6x a week for the past 1.5 years as mentioned in title: * Rock climbing indoors 2x a week for 2-3 hours * Yoga 2x a week for 1-2 hours followed by 10-15 min core workouts * Strength training 2x a week for 30-45 minutes, each session followed by 30 mins of incline treadmill walking * I'm an avid hiker as well and go on shorter hikes once every 1-2 weeks, and day-long hikes every 1-2 months * It sounds like a lot, but honestly most of my working out is to make me better at the activities I actually care about: climbing and hiking, both of which require strength/muscle and good cardio health. I was at a plateau in both activities until I started my workout routine * I don't count calories due to past obsessive tracking / restriction, but I generally cook at home / meal prep for 3-4 days and then eat out 2-3 days (I live in a large city and I'm very social so food is a basic part of hanging out here). * My lunches are usually rice bowls with veggies, pasta, noodles, etc. My dinners are almost always salads. I make sure to include at least one protein source per meal (super firm tofu, chickpea tofu, protein pasta, greek yogurt, black beans, cottage cheese, and lentils) and pea protein shakes to supplement. Occasionally I treat myself with a veggie burger or burrito * I drink 60-80oz of water a day The title says it all. I've had to drastically cut back my eating because of Invisalign (I have to keep the trays in for 20-22 hours a day at minimum, and can't eat with them on). I'm also a slow eater / grazer so I've had to cut out breakfast because I eat lunch & dinner so slowly, and I've cut out 99% of my snacking. I thought that would help me get to my goal of losing my more visible fat / losing weight overall. But no, I'm hungry almost all the time and on top of it all I've gained weight when everyone said the "Invisalign Diet" is supposed to cause the opposite lol. Even before the Invisalign, I don't overeat when I do have meals because I genuinely get full really fast but then I'm hungry like an hour later and have to suffer... Has anyone else dealt with this or have tips for me? I'm at my wits end tbh
