IV Iron Infusion Recommended…. Thoughts?
Post Content
Female 47. Height: 5’3”. Weight 144. Health history: RNY gastric bypass 5 years ago. Had a breast lift with tummy tuck revision in December. Meds I’m taking: mounjaro, bariatric vitamins, calcium, and bariatric iron supplements. Mounjaro is taken for weight loss maintenance, I’m no longer diabetic. Qulipta as a migraine preventative. Ambien ER for insomnia. I recently had my annual bloodwork done for the bariatric program which did my bypass five years ago. I successfully lost over 100+ pounds. The facility reviewed my results and said they all looked good with the exception of my iron storage, and recommended I do IV iron infusions instead of the iron supplements I have been taking, and repeat bloodwork in three months. Test results: Total iron binding capacity: 280 UIBC: 72 Iron Serum: 208 Iron Saturation: 74 I have felt more tired than usual, and my heartbeat is kind of “fluttery”, but other that that I feel fine. I sent a message to my general practitioner to see what she recommends. I only see the bariatric team once a year. Also, my cousin and my aunt just found out they have hemochromatosis and have to get blood drawn every once in a while. I’ve never been tested, and wasn’t sure if this information is helpful in this post.
