Maintaining Flow State With ADHD
Post Content
As simple as the title. For those who don't know, flow state is a mental state in which you can essentially perform at an task with minimal high-concentrated effort. I've been diagnosed with ADHD since childhood but have not used medication since high school. While I've found myself in flow state on multiple occasions, I often find it very hard to maintain because a single stray thought can break me out of it. Even if I have a clean and distraction free environment to focus in. It can be very frustrating both for productive work and for recreational activities like gaming to go from easily dominating a task to suddenly having to fight for every inch of success. If you have experience with maintaining flow state in spite of ADHD, what are some suggestions you have for it? Does medication help with it, and if so in what ways does it affect it? I feel like my distractability has only been getting worse and it's negatively affecting my productivity, so any advice is more than welcome.
