How to Find New PCP Who Specializes in Gender Affirming Care?
Post Content
As the title says, I’m looking to get a new primary care physician and at the same time, after working with my therapist, I’ve realized I’m ready to start HRT ASAP. So figured getting a new primary care physician that works with the trans community too helps. But, I’m having the hardest time finding people that are accepting new patients and in-network for my insurance. Like, I look one day and there will be three people accepting. I go to call their office, and get to their webpage to get their number only to see they’re now either not accepting new patients or only returning patients. How do I find a new PCP that has experience and expertise with the trans community (HRT, surgeries, bloodwork, etc)? I’m just getting so bummed that when I’m finally ready to start this journey, luck just goes the opposite way with PCP availability. TL;DR: Trying to find a new PCP that specializes in gender affirming care, but don’t know where to look.
