Femoston 2/10 and bleeding
Post Content
I'm just curious...does anybody have any experience with this HRT. I have been taking it for more than 8 years (I'm now 59). When I was going through menopause, I hadn't had a period for well over a year, but menopause symptoms were absolutely destroying me. My (then) GP put me on Femoston 2/10 and I have never looked back! It has been an absolute godsend! About 6 months ago, I started regularly seeing a different GP (same clinic). I have seen her off and on over the years anyway as my backup GP when my other doctor was away, so she has always been aware of all my medications and varying health issues. Just now though, despite knowing I have *ALWAYS* had regular withdrawal bleeding every single month for nearly 9 years on Femoston 2/10...*NOW* she is suddenly all concerned and worried that I'm bleeding! The regular (and *NORMAL*) side-effect of withdrawal bleeding on Femoston 2/10 has *never* been an issue for me, I have maintained my smear tests as per schedule, and everything has been fine. But she is suddenly saying "oh no, the bleeding is not normal", "you need to have an ultrasound to check the lining of your uterus"... The bleeding on Femoston 2/10 *IS* actually normal, and I reminded her of this, but she shut me down, saying "no, no, no it it not normal". I'm in Australia, and I get the feeling that GPs here are under pressure from the powers that be to maintain a certain quota of medical tests and scans to be done... whether or not they're even needed. I also feel though, that she is just not knowledgeable in this area. Can anyone enlighten me further on both the medication itself and its normal side-effects, and also with what is going on with GPs in this country?
