Will increasing ritalin dose help with wear-off time?

I was just prescribed ritalin LA at 10mg, with instructions to increase to 20mg in a week if it doesn't seem like it's working. It is 100% working in the morning, and I feel good through the school day, but by the time I have work in the evening it has worn off and symptoms are worse than ever. Obviously not ideal. Will increasing to 20mg help it last longer, or should I contact my psychiatrist so that we can potentially try a different medication (or as much as I don't want to, instant release tablets)?
