Transitioning in the military

Post Content

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice or experiences. I’m joining the Army soon and leaving for training in the near future. I’m also trans (MTF) and planning to start transitioning later this year. I’ve been dealing with gender dysphoria for a long time and have recently accepted that I’m trans. I’m in a country where transition is supported and covered through the military medical system, which I’m grateful for, but I still don’t know what the actual process is like in practice. I haven’t come out to my family yet, and I also haven’t told the Army. I was wondering if anyone here has experience transitioning while working in a structured or demanding environment, or waiting until after training to start the process. What was it like for you? Is there anything you wish you knew before starting transition? Any advice would really help
